NBTel to announce launch of Aliant interactive television service for Moncton, New Brunswick (21JAN00)
NBTel, a wholly owned subsidiary of Aliant Inc., is expected to launch Aliant's interactive television service
on Monday with a press conference in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. The Aliant interactive television
service will be using software developed by iMagicTV and will be provided over traditional copper wire.

AOLTV to be marketed to the masses (21JAN00) (MSNBC)
MSNBC reports, "AOL this summer plans to launch its most ambitious effort yet to take the online
service beyond the personal computer, melding it with television sets in a new service called
AOLTV. MSNBC cites AOL interactive services group president Barry Schuler as indicating, "For now ... AOLTV will support a set of enhanced TV standards backed
by Microsoft and others, which makes it more likely that viewers with other set-top boxes can
tune into the same shows."
Blockbuster to stream MGM movies on website (20JAN00) (Digital Coast Weekly)
Digital Coast Weekly reports Blockbuster and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer entered into a multi-year deal
where MGM movies can be downloaded from the Blockbuster website. Digital Coast Weekly also notes
that Paramount Studio movies are "notably absent" from Blockbuster's streaming initiative. Blockbuster
and Paramount are both owned by Viacom.
