Nonetheless AT&T Committed To Microsoft, But Good To Have Liberate Also: AT&T Broadband interactive TV
senior vice president Rich Fickle says "We're still committed to the Microsoft product" (02OCT00) (CableWorld)
CableWorld quotes AT&T Broadband interactive TV programs senior vice president Rich Fickle as stating,
"We're still committed to the Microsoft product. It's an early stage for interactive television, and having a
couple of different companies working hard on this area is a very good thing."
However CableWorld also cites Broadband Intelligence president Cynthia Brumfield as indicating,
"AT&T has to say that" since Microsoft is "a significant shareholder, and [AT&T is] not going to stick them in the eye."
In discussing Microsoft's shift from the PC world to the TV world, CableWorld also quotes Brumfield as stating,
"We're talking TV-centric as opposed to PC-centric. Liberate is TV-centric, and Microsoft started off on a PC-centric
platform" and is "on a death march to get that software workable for set-top boxes."

Legend says no conflict and some set-top boxes for Venus Project have been sold (30SEP00) (SouthChinaMorningPost)
The South China Morning Post quotes Dresdner Kleinwort Benson analyst Johnny Wong Kin-man as asking,
"If the Venus project is very successful, why would Legend want to partner with other partners to produce a set-top box?"
In response, the South China Morning Post cites a Legend Holdings spokeswoman as indicating,
"there was no conflict as the two arrangements involved different kinds of set-top boxes," and further

Without disclosing any numbers, the South China Morning Post also cites the spokeswoman as indicating,
"Legend had sold some Microsoft set-top boxes since the Venus project agreement was signed."
