HP MCE Remote Control: Media Center is intended to be used with
a remote control but you can use your mouse & your keyboard also.

Media Center Edition has an Electronic Program Guide (EPG) for checking TV listings.

From the My TV screen, you can watch Live TV or your recorded TV shows.
You can click on the television picture to watch TV in full screen mode.

Media Center Edition keeps a list of your recorded TV shows.

Again from the My TV screen, you can watch your recorded TV shows.
You can click on the television picture to watch TV in full screen mode.

You can also view your digital pictures in a slide show with MCE.

Media Center Edition also provides an Online Spotlight of entertainment.

From the Online Spotlight, you can access Movielink for getting Movies-on-Demand.

Philips MCE Remote Control: If you are one of those users who is able to
get an OEM copy of MCE to put on a PC, then you may also want to look
around and get a remote control like the Philips remote designed for MCE.

Media Center Edition 2005 is soon on the way with improvements.
(Thanks go to
creamhackered for this MCE 2005 screenshot picture
of new version. Also see screenshots at winfuture.de in Germany.)
You can get the NEW version of Media Center Edition 2005 by clicking HERE. The new version of Media Center Edition 2005 is codenamed "Symphony" and is suppose to have the ability to use three TV tuner cards (2 analog tuners, 1 HDTV over-the-air tuner), advanced editing tools including enhanced DVR-MS file editing, direct-to-DVD recording, multiple remote sessions allowed, media center extender capability for networking in the home, enhanced caller ID, and includes Windows XP Service Pack 2 (WinXP SP2) and the new Windows Media Player 10. So if you don't want to build your own PC-TV HTPC Media PC, then you can go out and buy your own.

Windows XP Media Center Edition is becoming much easier to buy,
but as an OEM product you would have to buy it with MCE-compatible
hardware such as a MCE-compatible remote control (CLICK HERE).
If you already have a Media Center PC, according to a recent report from Paul Thurrott, when those PCs that have WinXP MCE 2004 automatically get the WinXP SP2 security updates via online automatic updating of windows, then those Media Center PCs should be upgraded to WinXP MCE 2005 also. However, if you wait to buy one of the new Media Center PCs that already have Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 beginning in October 2004, then you may possibly find that the TV Tuner card on those PCs may be an "optional" feature that you will have to buy as an extra option that you have to pay for on top of the cost for the PC because Microsoft has reportedly loosened its requirements that PC manufacturers actually include a TV Tuner card with the PC. So, if you want TV with any new MCE 2005-equppied PC, then you'll want to get the TV Tuner card also. Microsoft also apparently loosened its requirements for buying Windows XP Media Center Edition because you can get it almost by itself without buying a whole new PC but so long as you get Windows XP 2005 Media Center Edition as a bundled purchase such as with a piece of MCE-compatible hardware like a MCE-compatible remote control.
