"GENERIC" & OTHER TV TUNER SOFTWARE
I recommend using the original software for your TV Tuner card whenever possible. But if you're stuck and can't find the software, then take a look at these links. You may have to experiment with the software if you can't get it to work right away because YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN since no official support is provided....
- ATV2000 software for TV Tuner cards
Compatible with AIMS Extreme, Extreme98, Extreme98 deluxe , Askey TView99, Askey TView99, ATI TV Wonder, ATI TV Wonder VE, AVEC Intercapture, AVerMedia TVCapture, AverMedia TVPhone, AverMedia TVCapture98, AverMedia VCapture98 w/VCR, AverMedia TV98, AverMedia TVPhone98, AverMedia TV/FM98 stereo, Hauppauge WinTV, Hauppauge WinTV PCI, Hauppauge WinTV/MSP, Hauppauge WinTV-radio, JSIR PV951, Leadtek WinFast TV2000, Leadtek WinView 601, Leadtek WinView 601, LifeView FlyVideo II, LifeView FlyVideo98, MediaForte PV951, MiroPCTV, MiroPCTV 2, MiroPCTV Pro, PixelView PV878P+, ProVideo PV951, STB TV PCI, Terratec TerraTValue, Terratec TerraTV+, Zoltrix Genie TV, Zoltrix TV-Max
- Bt848/878 driver grappler (required by ATV2000)
- TV channel logos you could use with ATV2000 (resize logo to 32x32 16-color ICO image)
- Amethman: Bt848/Bt878 Windows 2000 Drivers & Applications for TV Cards
- Amethman: More Windows 2000 Drivers for TV Cards
- More Video Drivers including more Bt848 Drivers for Win95/98
You may be able to use any Bt848/Bt878 driver but no guarantees. If you use a Bt848 driver for a card other than that for your own card, you may possibly be able to watch TV but may have limitations when trying to do any video capturing and that would be when you would have to hunt for the correct software for your TV card. Again no guarantees as to whether any software or drivers from any of these links will work with your TV card.
- WDM Video Capture Driver for WinMe, Win98SE ,Win2000 and WinXP for Capture Boards based on Brooktree's Bt848 / Bt849 / Bt878 & Bt879 Chipsets
- VfW drivers versus WDM drivers
VfW drivers are not supposed to work under WinXP, but they may still work except you may have limitations if you try to do any video capturing. I personally feel that VfW drivers provide a better TV picture. -ruel
- Ivan Uskov's Bt848/bt878 Tweaked WDM Drivers
- Borg bTV tuner program for TV tuner cards with BT848/878 chip
- Ivan Uskov's iuVCR software for Win2000 & WinXP

Great all-around TV program -- particularly if you can't find any drivers at all. You may have to experiment with the settings. Includes a rudimentary timeshift recording function.

LINUX-RELATED LINKS FOR TV CARDS
This is for the linux folks out there. For those folks who are testing the linux waters, or who are considering going with linux, be prepared to do a lot more work than if you were to go the windows route.... Linux is not for the faint of heart and can be considered to be much more technically challenging. (With windows, you would at least know that you have the manufacturer's default windows-compatible software which should work for you if you stick with windows on a PC.)
- TV with Linux (Linux.Net.Mag)
(good overview article to let you know what you're getting into with linux)
- Multimedia4Linux (Germany)
- Multimedia4Linux Video-TV Hardware
